Frox

Frox are an uncommon enemy type in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. These gigantic, fanged frogs live in the Depths, looking to swallow up anything that crosses their path. Official Description: "A large monster that dwells in the Depths. Despite its unwieldy body, it has incredibly powerful legs that it can use to leap from afar to capture prey. Its large mouth allows it to swallow whatever it hungers for in one gulp."

Where to Find Frox

Froxes can be found all over the Depths, but their Compendium entry lists their most common locations as:

Tips for Fighting Froxes

  • Frox are incredibly slow enemies overall, but they are capable of three very powerful moves: a giant leap forward to "body slam", a powerful charge forward, and an inhaling breath "vortex" that sucks you towards it's open mouth.
  • Keep your distance from a Frox while battling it to avoid it's "leap" and "charge" attacks. You can tell it's about to charge up a "leap" attack when it's body does a little wiggle.
  • It's large, singular eye is a weak point. Hitting a Frox in the eye will deal a critical hit which will momentarily stun it.
  • The Frox's "breath vortex" attack will suck you into it's mouth if you're not careful! Once swallowed, the Frox will chew on Link, slowly draining your hearts. To avoid the "breath" attack, run in the opposite direction.
  • You can stun the Frox during its "breath" attack by fusing a Bomb Flower to an arrow while wielding your Bow! Shoot the Bomb Flower-fused arrow into its open mouth and the Frox will swallow it. After a moment, the bomb will explode, temporarily stunning it.
  • While the Frox is stunned, climb up onto its back and hit the Zonaite deposits until they break. Destroying the Zonaite deposits on a Frox's back will deal massive damage.
