Official Description: "These fearsome monsters have lived in Hyrule since ancient times. They possess intense intelligence and resilience, as well as a piercing horn, making them among the most dangerous monsters in all the land. Where to Find Lynels
Lynels are only found in particular places around the map, usually in a wide-open area. They're always alone. Remember that while they spawn in specific locations, some areas have a chance to spawn Lynels of different colors.
The color of Lynels will also change depending on your progress in the game.
There are a total of 34 Lynels in Tears of the Kingdom. The Lynel location maps below show what colors the Lynel were when we encountered them, but they may be different depending on how far you've progressed.
- Red Lynels (HCN 147) are your basic Lynel.
- Blue-Maned Lynels (HCN 148) are one step up from Red.
- White-Maned Lynels (HCN 149) are even more difficult to beat and fairly rare.
- Silver Lynels (HCN 150) are the most difficult to defeat and the rarest.
You will have to face a gauntlet of Lynel in the Floating Coliseum.

Tips for Fighting Lynels
- Lynels have several attacks that take advantage of everything they have. They have a bow that fires three arrows, a melee weapon they'll swing at you while they charge, and a horn they'll use to lunge at you. Learn the attack patterns for these different weapons and get used to avoiding them at all costs.
- Lynels can spew giant fireballs that deal incredible damage. However, if they start a fire on the ground, you can paraglide the updraft to escape.
- Lynels can jump up and smash the ground in a wide area of effect attack. If you see one leap into the air, step back a good distance to avoid damage.
- Occasionally, Lynels need to rest between attacks. If you see a Lynel slump forward, take the opportunity to run up and mount it. You'll be able to get in a few attacks before it bucks you off.
- Lynels take very little elemental damage, so you'll have to rely on physical attacks to take one down.
Lynel Recoverable Materials
Lynels drop the following recoverable materials, and also drop powerful weapons:
- Lynel Hoof
- Lynel Saber Horn
- Lynel Mace Horn
- Arrow x 10
