The Zonaite Helm is found on Lightcast Island in the Tabantha Frontier Sky, but because Lightcast Island sits at such a high altitude, reaching the area can be near impossible without a well-upgraded Energy Well, tons of Zonai Charge, or a tremendous amount of Stamina. Thankfully, there is a way to get to Lightcast Island that requires minimal resources and upgrades, but you'll need to acquire the Zora Armor before this method is a viable option.

Note!

If you've already acquired the Zora Armor, click here to bypass this section of the guide.

Acquire the Zora Armor

Sludge Covered Statue Walkthrough (4).png
Sludge Covered Statue Walkthrough (4).png

To obtain the Zora Armor start the Regional Phenomena Main Quest by speaking to Purah at Lookout Landing after investigating the Crisis at Hyrule Castle. With the Regional Phenomena quest now in your Adventure Log, travel to Zora's Domain in eastern Hyrule and complete the Main Quest, The Sludge-Covered Statue. You'll then be introduced to Yona, the caretaker of the Zora.

After the cutscene, speak to Yona near the second-floor pools, bring her an Ancient Arowana to complete the Restoring the Zora Armor quest, then she'll restore and gift you the Zora Armor!

Note

Before attempting to collect the Zonaite Helm from Lightcast Island, we recommend you acquire two pieces of Cold Resistant Armor or cook Cold Resistant Meals in preparation for your chilly voyage.

With the Zora Armor in hand, you'll now want to reach the North Tabantha Sky Archipelago, which sits just north of Lightcast Island, albeit at a lower altitude.

Zonaite helm 1.png
Zonaite helm 1.png

To reach the North Tabantha Sky Archipelago, visit Strock Lake in the Tabantha Frontier region of northwestern Hyrule. Walk to the northwest end of the lake, look up at the sky, and search for a high waterfall that will serve as your ticket to the North Tabantha Sky Archipelago.

In one of the more unique environmental phenomena in Tears of the Kingdom, the length of the waterfall pouring from the sky island will change depending on the weather.

Zonaite helm 3.png
Zonaite helm 3.png

During most weather conditions, the waterfall flowing from the North Tabantha Sky Archipelago will not reach the surface of Hyrule, so you'll need to get creative. Equip the Zora Armor, then use Ultrahand and Zonai devices such as Balloons, Fans, Flame Emitters, or Rockets to create a vessel that can take you to the skies. Once you're high enough, glide into the waterfall and swim up to reach the sky island.

If you lack Zonai devices, you can still make it to the North Tabantha Sky Archipelago waterfall by using Recall on a nearby fallen rock or by launching yourself into the sky with the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower. However, the Skyview Tower is pretty far away, so you'll need over two Stamina Wheels to glide to the waterfall.

Zonaite helm 4.png
Zonaite helm 4.png

However, if it's raining, you're in luck because the North Tabantha Sky Archipelago's waterfall will extend all the way to the Hyrule surface. If you're fortunate and it's raining during this part of your search, simply glide into the waterfall, and you'll automatically swim up to the North Tabantha Sky Archipelago without expending any resources or Stamina!

How to Get to Lightcast Island

Zonaite helm 5.png
Zonaite helm 5.png

Once you've landed on the North Tabantha Sky Archipelago, eat your Cold Resistant Meal or put on your Cold Resistant Armor. Next, jog to the northern end of the area and use the Rockets and Mine Carts nearby to make it across the rails.

Zonaite helm 6.png
Zonaite helm 6.png

When you reach the sky island at the center of the archipelago, look southward, and you'll discover a ramp alongside some Zonai devices. Use the Fans, Wings, and Rockets to build a symmetrical aircraft capable of flying off the ramp toward the Tabantha Sky Archipelago pictured above. Though using additional Zonai devices will undoubtedly be helpful, you should be able to reach your desired location with the 1x Wing, 2x Fans, and 2x Rockets found in the area. However, you will need a few Zonai Charges.

Zonaite helm 7.png
Zonaite helm 7.png

Before taking off, save your game. This way, you can return to your previous location if your flight goes awry.

With your aircraft built, place it near the ramp, activate the rockets, then crouch onto the Wing's tail to force your aircraft upward. Your Rockets will quickly break off, and as you fly toward the Tabantha Sky Archipelago, you may grow concerned that you're not gaining enough altitude to reach your target.

Put your concerns aside, and continue standing on the tail because when you near the Tabantha Sky Archipelago, you'll enter a low-gravity area that allows your aircraft to gain altitude with ease.

Zonaite helm 9.png
Zonaite helm 9.png

Once in the low-gravity airspace, your goal is to land on the sky island housing a Flux Construct. Land in the square-shaped area southwest of the Flux Construct, and you'll discover a pre-made aircraft and additional Zonai devices.

Zonaite helm 10.png
Zonaite helm 10.png

Ensure that at least 4 Batteries are attached to the aircraft, then turn it to face north toward Lightcast Island before taking off. Carefully fly upward and to the north while prioritizing height over distance, and you should make it to Lightcast Island with room to spare.

After safely landing, walk to the northwestern end of Lightcast Island and activate the circular Zonai terminal.

Zonaite helm 13.png
Zonaite helm 13.png

This will drain the lake, so grab some lunch, defeat the nearby constructs, then approach the tall structure. Follow the light given off by the structure, and you'll discover a cave blocked by breakable rock. Use Bomb Flower's or stone-Fused weapons to carve through the rock, and inside the cave, you'll find a couple of Zonai mirrors that are just two pieces of a much larger puzzle. While solving this puzzle isn't required to collect the Zonaite Helm, it does point you in the right direction.

How to Solve the Lightcast Island Mirror Puzzle

Zonaite helm 15.png
Zonaite helm 15.png

Before starting this puzzle, consider throwing Brightbloom Seeds throughout the cave. Even though this pitch-black cave doesn't house any threats, a little light will make this puzzle more straightforward.

To solve this puzzle, you'll need to use the Zonai mirrors in the cave to reflect the light and power up a hidden hexagonal panel. Start by using Ultrahand to grab one of the mirrors near the cave entrance and place it on the ground facing west. While using Ultrahand, you should notice another mirror in the distance, so position the first mirror so the light reflects toward the second. Jump to the platform with the second mirror, and use Ultrahand to reflect the light south toward your third mirror. Glide to the platform housing the third mirror, and position it facing east.

Zonaite helm 18.png
Zonaite helm 18.png

Finally, place the fourth facing south so the light reflects through the passage and onto the mirror hanging from the ceiling. Glide into the passage, and you should notice that the mirror attached to the ceiling reflects the light downward.

Zonaite helm 19.png
Zonaite helm 19.png

Defeat the construct found here, and pick up his mirror-Fused shield. Stand in the light, and use the Mirror Shield to power up the hexagonal panel to complete the puzzle!

Zonaite helm 20.png
Zonaite helm 20.png

Finally, climb up the ledge above the hexagonal panel, open the chest, and you'll find the Zonaite Helm! After collecting the Zonaite Helm and solving the mirror puzzle, walk down the stairs just outside and wrap around the island to discover the Ga-ahisas Shrine. Before leaving Lightcast Island, activate the shrine to make it an eligible fast travel point!

Thoroughly search the cave to find chests containing 3x Mirrors and 1x Star Fragment.

Where to Find the Zonaite Waistguard

Zonaite waist.png
Zonaite waist.png

The Zonaite Waistguard is found on the Zonaite Forge Island floating high in the Necluda Sky. But because of its high elevation, this valuable piece of Armor cannot be reached straight away.

Coordinates: 2374, -1774, 1489

Recommendation

Before searching for the Zonaite Waistguard, we recommend you get at least 1.5 Stamina Rings or cook Stamina-increasing meals to help you on your journey. Though they are not required, we also suggest you bring Zonai devices that can help you fly, such as Rockets, Balloons and Flame Emitters, or Fans.

Zonaite waist 1.png
Zonaite waist 1.png

To collect the Zonaite Waistguard, start by launching yourself into the air using the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower, then glide east to reach the large central island in the West Necluda Sky Archipelago. This will require about 1.5 rings of Stamina without the assistance of Tulin's Avatar.

  • Coordinates: 1257, -2165, 0599
Zonaite waist 2.png
Zonaite waist 2.png

Once on the West Necluda Sky Archipelago, activate the Ukoojisi Shrine to make it a valid fast travel point, then head to the square-shaped, northeastern area where you'll find three floating platforms and tons of Rockets.

  • Coordinates: 1466, -2006, 0527
Zonaite waist 3.png
Zonaite waist 3.png

Place all of the Rockets atop one of the floating platforms but only attach one of them to the center.

Do not attach multiple Rockets to the floating platform, or they'll all activate at the same time and prevent you from reaching the Zonaite Waistguard.

Zonaite waist 6.png
Zonaite waist 6.png

Once you have a Rocket attached to the center of the platform, shoot it with an arrow to ensure you don't accidentally activate the other Rockets. When the first Rocket is depleted, attach another one to the center, wait for your upward momentum to stall out, then activate the second Rocket. Continue this process until you're face-to-face with the Zonaite Forge Island pictured on the right.

Zonaite waist 9.png
Zonaite waist 9.png

If you don't get enough lift or have limited Stamina, use any additional Zonai devices in your inventory to get closer to the Zonaite Forge Island and glide over when you're in range.

Zonaite waist 10.png
Zonaite waist 10.png

Now that you've landed on the Zonaite Forge Island, head to the northeastern end of the sky island and activate the circular Zonai terminal to turn on the fans.

  • Coordinates: 2422, -1678, 1475
Zonaite waist 11.png
Zonaite waist 11.png

Use the updraft provided by the fans surrounding Zonaite Forge Island to reach the top of the tall central pillar.

Zonaite waist 12.png
Zonaite waist 12.png

Drop into the tower and carefully avoid the lasers as you descend. Once inside the forge, activate the Yansamin Shrine to make it a valid fast travel point, then approach the lava just behind the shrine.

Zonaite waist 13.png
Zonaite waist 13.png

Next, you need to create a platform atop the lava pictured above. To do so, throw any of the items listed below onto the lava:

  • Ice Fruit
  • White Chuchu Jelly
  • Chuchu Jelly
  • Ice Keese Eyeball
  • Ice Keese Wing
  • Ice-Breath Lizalfos Horn
  • Ice-Breath Lizalfos Tail

Zonaite waist 14.png

Jump onto the platform, then use Ascend to access a secret area with a chest. Open the chest, and the Zonaite Waistguard is yours!

Where to Find the Zonaite Shin Guards

Zonaite Shin Guards-IMG 1727.jpeg
Zonaite Shin Guards-IMG 1727.jpeg

The Zonaite Shin Guards are hidden within a spherical Sky Island floating in the North Akkala Sky Archipelago. Its exact coordinates are 4450, 2025, 1462.

Zonaite Shin Guards-IMG 1728.jpeg
Zonaite Shin Guards-IMG 1728.jpeg

The chest containing the Zonaite Shin Guards is in the bottom half of the sphere, so you have to do a little problem-solving to access it. To begin, head to the nearest cross-shaped Sky Island in the Sky Mine area. Turn the launcher to face the sphere, and launch one of the heavy blocks into the hole at the top. Then launch yourself in after it.

Zonaite Shin Guards-IMG 1726.jpeg
Zonaite Shin Guards-IMG 1726.jpeg

Lift the block and place it on the switch in the center of the room. This will cause the sphere to start spinning to give you access to the bottom area. Ascend to the top of the sphere and glide off, timing your jump right so you can enter the hole and access the chest in the center of the room.
