Black Hinox

The Black Hinox mini-boss can be found in several places across Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom. In this guide, we’ll show you the strategies and techniques we used to take down this menacing mini-boss by taking advantage of the Black Hinox's weak spot: its eye. Be sure to have a bow, some arrows, and a handful of sturdy melee weapons in your inventory to take it down.

Combat Strategies

Much like it's more common varieties, the key to defeating a Black Hinox is to aim an arrow for it's big, singular eye. Striking a Black Hinox in its eye will deal a critical hit, temporarily stunning them and bringing the Black Hinox into a sitting position. From here, it is much easier to approach the Black Hinox to begin wailing on it with your weapon of choice.

You can Fuse a Keese or Aerocuda Eyeball to your arrow while aiming a Bow to guarantee a critical hit upon firing!

The Black Hinox is the rarest and toughest of all Hinox mini-bosses, so you'll want to bring a high Attack Power weapon and bow. Otherwise, you can expect your fight to drag on as you whittle away at it's massive health bar.

Defeating a Black Hinox is guarenteed to drop a Black Hinox Horn (Fuse Attack Power 27) along with the same combination of Hinox Toenail, Hinox Tooth, and Hinox Guts that more common Hinox drop. Additionally, a random assortment of roasted or seared meat will drop whenever a Black Hinox is killed. Where was the Black Hinox keeping all this meat? Don't worry about it.
